Firearms Safety Courses in Agassiz
Canadian Firearms Academy now runs PAL, RPAL and Combined courses in Agassiz, BC — so people in the eastern Fraser Valley no longer have to drive to Surrey or Langley to get licensed. Same certified instructors, same government-approved courses, a lot closer to home.
Who this is for
If you live in Agassiz, Harrison Hot Springs, Chilliwack, Hope, Kent, Rosedale, Sardis or Mission, this is the closest government-certified firearms safety training available. Most students in the valley have been driving an hour or more each way to get their licence — that's four hours of driving across a weekend course. Now it's a local trip.
What you can take here
- Non-Restricted (CFSC / PAL) — the course you need for rifles and shotguns. Runs Saturday, plus Sunday morning to finish.
- Restricted (CRFSC / RPAL) — adds handguns and restricted firearms. Runs Sunday afternoon. You need the Non-Restricted course first, or take the Combined.
- Combined (PAL + RPAL) — both licences over the one weekend. Best value if you want everything in a single trip.
How the Agassiz weekend runs
The Fraser Valley weekend is scheduled a little differently from Surrey, so check which course you're booking:
| Course | Saturday | Sunday |
|---|---|---|
| Non-Restricted (PAL) | 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM | 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM |
| Restricted (RPAL) | — | 12:30 PM – 5:00 PM |
| Combined | 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM | 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM |
Note for Non-Restricted students: unlike our Surrey weekends, the Agassiz PAL course finishes on the Sunday morning — please keep that morning free.
What's included
Everything you need for the day: the electronic course manual with your registration, all training firearms and course materials, pens and paper, and both the written and practical testing. Just bring government-issued photo ID and show up about 15 minutes early.
Where exactly is it?
Courses run at a community facility in Agassiz, central and easy to find with free parking. The full address and room are sent to you in your confirmation email as soon as you book, along with everything you need to bring.
After the course
Once you pass, you apply for your licence through the RCMP's online firearms licence service. Our guides section walks through the whole process step by step, including how to get your PAL in BC and what to expect on course day.
Hunting in the Fraser Valley?
If you're getting licensed to hunt, you'll also need your CORE (BC Hunter Education). We run CORE in Surrey, and our self-paced Online Hunting Course lets you study for the CORE exam from home anywhere in the valley — Module 1 is free to try.
